Fazer a resenha de um livro nunca foi algo tão desafiador antes. Esse foi o tipo de leitura que te faz questionar a natureza das pessoas porque algumas pessoas são tão boas? e porque outras são tão más? Foi um livro que me comoveu, foi um livro que me fez chorar(muito) e mexeu com meu brio e com minhas convicções, com minhas emoções. Seu título? Imbatível.
O livro narra a história de Nick Renshaw fullback de um time da cidade onde mora. Sua vida desde sempre foi voltada para esse esporte que já trouxe muitos momentos de alegrias, assim como muitas lesões, mas assim era Nick, vidrado pelo perigo e as incertezas de se praticar esse esporte coletivo de tanto contato físico e tão brutal como o Rugby. Nick era o perfeito bom rapaz, irmão e filho e um namorado apaixonado. Tudo estava magnifico para ele que havia acabado de assinar com um time de primeira divisão, ele tinha uma namorada com quem planejava dar um grande passo, mas uma lesão acaba por tirá-lo de campo. O período de recuperação foi um tanto quanto complicado e foi quando Anna Scott surgiu...
Dra. Anna Scott psicóloga do esporte, americana jovem e altamente capacitada Fora contratada pela equipe do Manchester Minotaurs para auxiliar e ajudar a melhorar o desempenho dos atletas através de exercícios motivacionais. “O Foguete” como era conhecido ao se deparar com a Dra. Scott sabia desde o início que aquela mulher era diferente, algo nela o fascinava, mas Nick era um homem respeitoso, estava noivo e jamais seria infiel a Molly. A cada novo encontro com Anna criava-se um vínculo de amizade e confiança. Tudo começava a caminhar novamente quando uma notícia inesperada traz uma nova decepção. Ele vai em busca no amigo do antigo time que também se recuperava de uma lesão, precisava conversar com alguém que o entendesse, mas ao chegar ao local ele percebeu que a vida parecia fazer uma piada de mal gosto com ele pois estava sendo traído pelas pessoas nas quais mais confiava. A fúria tomou conta dele ao ver a cena deplorável e ele teve a atitude mais humana possível de alguém que se sentia magoado, traído arrasado...
Por causa de tudo isso ele fora preso, julgado sua carreira estava acabada. Mas havia alguém que acreditava nele e na bondade de seu coração. Anna não acreditava no que era noticiado nas mídias ela conhecia Nick, ele não seria capaz de tudo aquilo que o acusavam dessa forma aceitou testemunhar a favor dele no tribunal, que o condenou a uma pena de serviços comunitários e uma multa. Mas a vida dele, a carreira dele já era. E ele se afundou no sofrimento. A família desesperada já não sabia o que fazer para tirá-lo da depressão na qual havia mergulhado, ele chegara ao fundo do poço, mas ali ele ouviu uma voz que dizia Eu acredito em você.
Nessa voz e no amor da família ele encontrou forças para fazer o caminho de volta. Fora uma luta dura e um caminho árduo a ser percorrido. Uma nova cirurgia, um novo processo de recuperação e uma nova história a ser escrita:

E assim Nick lutou, conquistando um pouquinho todos os dias, se recuperando trabalhando para voltar ao mundo do Rugby. A atração por Anna cada vez mais latente e inevitável Anna por experiência sabia que não deveria se envolver com Nick por uma questão de ética na profissão, mas está cada vez mais difícil lutar conta seu coração, que já trazia cicatriz de um passado arrasado por um escândalo...
Os dois sabiam que não deveriam, não poderiam se entregam aos seus sentimentos. Nick finalmente consegue contrato com o clube Finchley Phoenixes de Londres, onde por obra do destino Anna também é contratada como Psicóloga do esporte e estaria próxima de Nick, seu doce tormento. Ambos lutaram, para se manterem afastados, manter a coisa toda no nível profissional, mas como já dizia o conterrâneo de Anna Garth Brooks Você tem que ser forte quando consumido pelo desejo porque não basta ficar afastado do fogo... e o fogo era o que mais existia entre os dois. Essa não é apenas uma história sobre um amor proibido. É uma história sobre estar no topo do mundo e depois ver sua vida estilhaçada em mil pedacinhos, é sobre ver aqueles em quem mais confiam te apunhalar pelas costas é sobre os reveses da vida. É sobre aprender a confiar nos outros novamente e acima de tudo confiar em si mesmo, é sobre derrotas e vitórias é sobre apoiar aqueles a quem amamos. É amar e pagar um preço por esse amor. Esse livro transcendeu todas as minhas expectativas e não teria palavras para partilhar da emoção que foi fazer a leitura. Pela curiosidade sobre o esporte, pela escrita de Jane que é fantástica e viciante, pelo processo de escrita do Stu percebesse no enredo como ele colaborou com sua expertise e tornou a leitura enriquecedora e principalmente pelo enredo que conta uma linda história de superação que jamais será esquecida pelos leitores.

To me, to do a review from a book was never so challenge before. This was that kind of reading which makes you question about human nature and the reason some people are so lovely and kind one and some others are so evil? This book touch me deep inside and made me cry (a lot) it really moved me.
His name? Undefeated.
The book tells us about Nick Renshaw fullback from a local rugby team. His life was always toward to this sport which brought a lot of moments of joy and many injuries as well, but that’s was Nick thrilled by the danger and the uncertainty of this though, and hard sport. Nick was a really a kind lad, brother and son and a lovely boyfriend. All was amazing to Nick who recently was contracted to play in a Premiership team. He had a girlfriend with he had big plans for future, but an injury end-up to take out from the field. The recovery period was such complicated and it was in that moment when Anna came up.
Dr. Anna Scott a Sport Psychologist, American, young, brilliant and highly talented was hired by Manchester Minotaurs to help, support and improve performance from the athletes through motivational exercises. The Rocket as Nick was known when face Dr. Scott knew since the begin she was a different kind of woman. She got something that dazzled him, but Nick was a polite lad, he was engaged he’d never be unfaithful to Molly. Each new appointment with Anna they become more special they were linked through friendship and trust. Everything was getting better again when some unexpected news put Nick down. He went searchin’ for his old friend from the old team. He was injured, and he need to chat with someone who’ll understand him, but soon as he got to his friend's house he realized life was still making a bad joke with him because he was being cheated for the ones he trusted most. Fury took him when he saw the despicable scene and he had an attitude so human as possible from someone who was hurt, cheated and torn apart. Because all of this he was arrested, judged and his career was over. But there was someone who believed him and in his kind heart.
Anna couldn't believe what the news said about Nick. She knew him he wouldn't do what they had accused him. So, she agreed to testify on the trial. He was sentenced to community service and a fine. But his life and career were over and done. He drowned himself on suffering and his family was desperate they couldn’t find a way to take him out from depression he was buried. He reached the bottom of the pit, but there he heard a voice which says I Believe in you. In that voice and in the love of his family he found strength to make his way back. It was a hard battle and a tough way he needs to go through. A new surgery, new recovery and a new story to be write:
When your world crashes down
When they all say you’re out
When your body is broken
I will rise.
I will return.
And I will be undefeated.
And so, Nick fought conquering a lit bit every day, recovering and working hard to come back to rugby. The attraction for Anna increasing and inevitable. Anna knew for experience she should not get involved with Nick it’s a matter of ethics in her profession, but it’s getting harder fight against her own heart, which brings scars of scandals from the past…
Both knew they shouldn’t, they couldn’t surrender to their feelings. Nick at last got a new contract with Finchley Phoenixes of London, where by destiny Anna also was hired as a Sport Psychologist and she would be close to Nick again, to her sweet temptation. Both fought to stay away from each other keep the whole thing at the professional level, but as Anna’s countryman singer Garth Brooks sings:
But you've got to be tough when consumed by desire
Cause it's not enough just to stand outside the fire
And fire is something that is burning inside on both. This is not a simple story about forbidden love. It’s a story about being at top of the world and then see your life shattered in thousand pieces., it’s about see the ones you trusted most stabbed you in the back. It’s about life’s setbacks. It’s about learn how to trust on people again an most of all trust in yourself. It’s about the losses and the triumphs, it’s about support the one you love. It’s about to love and pay the price of love. This is a book which transcended all my expectations. And I’d haven’t words enough to share my emotion of the reading. I read it for the curiosity about the sport, by Jane’s amazing an addicting writing, for Stu’s writing present in the process of the plot and how he collaborated with his knowledge about the sport enriching the reading and mainly for the plot that tell us a beautiful story about overcoming which will never be forget by the readers. I just simply love it!!
